LTI

Modified on Tue, 18 Mar at 7:16 PM

Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is a standard developed by 1EdTech Consortium, which allows courseware and learning tools from different vendors to be launched within a learning platform, often an LMS.

LTI Integration provides a link between an LTI supported LMS and your account in Open Badge Factory. The generic LTI integration will allow you to manually issue your OBF badges on your platform and allow you to access your pending badge applications. With the generic LTI integration, students can also apply for published earnable badges. Please note that the generic LTI integration doesn’t support automatic badge issuing.

Our customers can use advanced LTI integration with  Canvas LMS, Blackboard, Brightspace, etc. LTI 1.3 has a more straightforward upgrade path than other versions and the full support and endorsement of major platform providers. Please refer to our website for the specific LTI manuals.

NB! LTI integration requires a Pro subscription level.

Generic LTI : how to connect Open Badge Factory to your LMS with LTI 1.3:

First, check in your LMS that LTI tools are enabled.

Step 1: Add LTI tool

Log in to Open Badge Factory and go to Admin Tools -> LTI. Choose Version: 1.3 and LMS Generic. In this page you can see configuration values you need to connect the tool to your LMS.

Ask your LMS Admin to set up the LTI connection.

Step 2: Add LTI Link to Courses

Once the LTI link has been added to the courses, the following view should be available.

From this view, you can Issue badges from your OBF account, review pending badge applications, publish badge applications in your course and access Issuing history.
