A Space is a branded passport (within the generic Passport) dedicated to one or more OBF customers’ badge recipient communities. It provides members with easy access (via SSO and a custom login page) to a restricted environment within the Passport, visible only to community members. A Space also includes tools for organizations to set objectives and monitor progress at the community level (management system).
Reasons why customer organizations purchase a Space
- Enhanced usability: A Space makes the Open Badge Passport easier to use by providing users with simple access via SSO and direct access links. The information displayed in the Space is specific to the customer’s recipient community rather than the entire Open Badge Passport community.
- Monitoring and insights: In this “restricted area,” customers can monitor and understand how recipients use their badges. The Space offers detailed statistics and reports at the member, group, and community levels.
- Activity support: A Space is more than just a place where users display their badges and interact. It’s an environment where badges scaffold various activities and objectives. Members can apply for badges assigned or suggested by Space managers, who can track the progression of members’ activities.
- Objective setting and assessment: A Space enables organizations to define objectives at the group or community level and measure achievements and gaps effectively.
Badge and application management
Badges and badge applications assigned to Space members are created and managed through the Space owner’s OBF account. A Pro-level OBF account is required to connect to a Space; however, multiple OBF accounts can be linked to a single Space.
