Who can see an endorsement?

Endorsement Visibility

The visibility of an endorsement depends on its type and when it was created.

Issuing Organization Endorsement

An endorsement attributed to the issuing organization reflects confidence in its overall badging system, rather than in a particular badge.

An endorsement attributed to the issuing organization is visible to all badge recipients, whether it was added before or after the badge was issued.

This means that:

  • Recipients who received the badge before the endorsement will be able to view it
  • New recipients receiving the badge after the endorsement will also be able to view it

Badge Endorsement

An endorsement attributed directly to a badge reflects specific recognition for that particular badge alone.

An endorsement attributed directly to the badge is only visible to recipients who received the badge after the endorsement was created.

This means that:

  • Recipients who received the badge before the endorsement was added will not see it
  • Only new recipients receiving the badge after the endorsement will be able to view it

Public Sharing

When a recipient shares their badge publicly, the endorsements visible to that recipient are also accessible to the audience with whom the badge is shared.
